Declutter Your Wardrobe in 5 Easy Steps: A Practical Guide to Editing Your Wardrobe
Good morning, gorgeous! đ¸
How many times do you stand in front of your wardrobe and think, âI have nothing to wear!!!â even though your wardrobe is bursting with clothes?
Itâs not that we donât have enough, but maybe we just donât have the right things. Itâs so easy to accumulate items we donât wear or that no longer suit us.
But donât worry my lovely, Iâm here to help you take control of your wardrobe and feel fabulous every time you open those doors. Here are my top 5 steps to declutter your wardrobe and create a space that truly works for you!
Step 1: Take EVERYTHING Out of Your Wardrobe
I know this sounds like a big job, but trust me, itâs the best place to start.
Empty your entire wardrobe onto your bed or a clean floor. Yes, all of it! This helps you see everything youâve got and gives you a fresh perspective.
It can feel a bit overwhelming at first, but itâs also a little bit freeing â like a fresh start! Youâll be able to see how much stuff youâve got and start thinking about what you actually wear. Plus, itâs a great way to remind yourself of pieces you might have forgotten about. Win-win! đ
Step 2: Assess What You Actually Wear
Hereâs the fun part: Go through each item and ask yourself, âWhen was the last time I wore this?â If itâs been over a year, itâs probably time to part ways (unless it’s because you have nothing to wear it with! We’ll get to that bit!). The goal is to focus on clothes that make you feel good and that you actually wear. Be realistic about what fits your current lifestyle, flatters your shape and personal style.
Itâs time to let go of those âmaybe one dayâ items that have been hanging around for years. As hard as it may be, be honest with yourself. If itâs not serving you now, itâs not going to serve you later. â¤ď¸
Step 3: Sort into 3 Piles
Now that youâve assessed your pieces, letâs get sorting. Make three piles:
Toss: Worn-out items that are past their best â no one wants to keep those frayed edges and faded fabrics hanging around!
Keep: Items you love, wear often, and feel fabulous in.
Donate/Sell: Clothes that are still in good condition but no longer suit your style, size, or needs.
This system is super simple and will help you make decisions quickly. And donât be afraid to let go â the less clutter you have, the more space you have for clothes that truly fit you and your lifestyle!
Step 4: Organise Whatâs Left
Now that youâve trimmed down your wardrobe, itâs time to get organised! Fold or hang everything neatly so you can see your options clearly. You can organise by type (e.g. tops, trousers, skirts) or by colour â whichever feels best for you!
Pro tip: Invest in some lovely hangers that will help keep your clothes looking neat and tidy. A tidy wardrobe will make it so much easier to get dressed in the morning. Plus, itâs like having your own little boutique right at home. Who doesnât want that? đ

Step 5: Add a Few Key Pieces
Once you’ve decluttered, itâs time to think about whatâs missing from your wardrobe. Take a look at your âkeepâ pile â does anything need replacing? Perhaps a new pair of jeans, a cute jacket, or a versatile dress?
This is where I come in! Iâd love to help you add those key pieces (your ‘best friends’) thatâll complete your wardrobe and make it work even harder for you. Whether itâs updating your basics or adding a pop of colour, Iâm here to guide you in choosing items that suit you and your lifestyle perfectly.
